Compositions and releases

Knut Wiggen started his compositional career with works for instruments, and extended those thoughts into the computer music domain with algorithmic composition. His formal education as a composer was by Karl-Birger Blomdahl in Stockholm.

His algorithmic approach to interval-based music was abandoned for computer controlled synthesis with his software MusicBox, where he wrote many studies.  5 of those were published on a DTS-coded (5.1) disc in 2004, and were re-released in stereo versions in 2018.

His instrumental works were presented at ISCM World Music Days in 1955 and 1976, and in 1976 at MIT as part of the fist computer music conference.  His electronic works have also been performed in radio broadcasts, and during the Ultima International festival in Oslo 2003-2004), and the Bergen International Festival in 2009.
